I was born and raised here and am the fourth generation of my family to call this community home. With roots stretching back generations, my connection to the area runs deep . Today, my wife Karen and I are proud to be raising our boys here, continuing that family connection to the community that we love. Some of my favourite times are spent with my family, fishing and enjoying Georgian Bay. It's a big part of why I love living here and something I'll never take for granted.
After owning and operating a successful local business for more than 15 years, I understand the importance of hard work, responsible decision-making and listening to people. I am comfortable behind the wheel of a tractor, familiar with construction and the kind of hands-on work that keeps a community moving. My connection to Meaford goes far beyond business. I care deeply about families, seniors, young people, workers, and residents who make up our Municipality, and believe everyone deserves to be respected and heard.
I'm running for Mayor because Meaford is my home and I care deeply about where our community is headed. I believe residents deserve a municipal government that listens, communicates openly and makes responsible decisions with taxpayers' money. I want to bring a practical, common-sense approach to Town Hall and make sure all voices are heard, and work toward a strong and positive future for Meaford.
I believe the people of Meaford deserve a municipal government that is open, accountable and respectful of the people it serves. Important decisions should be made with transparency, clear communication and genuine consideration of public input. Residents should never feel shut out of the decisions that affect their community.
The Municipality of Meaford is made up of many unique communities, from Annan, Balaclava and Leith to Bognor, Woodford and Rockford and many rural communities in between. Each community has its own character and concerns, and I believe they all deserve equal respect and attention. When one part of our municipality succeeds, we all succeed.
I believe Meaford can move forward without losing what makes it special. With fresh ideas and thoughtful planning, we can embrace new opportunities while respecting our history, protecting our beautiful natural environment, and preserving the character of our communities. My love for Georgian Bay and this area runs deep, and I want future generations to be just as proud to call the Municipality of Meaford home.
Strong communities depend on reliable roads, infrastructure and municipal services. I want to make sure we are planning for what residents need today while taking care of the infrastructure our municipality will depend on for years to come.
We need to protect what makes Meaford a safe and welcoming place to call home. I want to keep our streets safe, our public spaces clean, and our downtown vibrant. With common sense and a commitment to working together, we can build a bright future.
Meaford needs fresh ideas and practical solutions. By supporting skilled staff, improving consistency and simplifying municipal processes, we can reduce delays and help our community grow responsibly while protecting what makes it special.
An open conversation is an important part of building a stronger community. Here are my thoughts on some of the issues that matter to Meaford.
Every community in our municipality deserves to be heard. Rural roads, local services and the needs of our smaller communities matter just as much as issues downtown. My approach is simple: listen across the municipality and consider how decisions affect everyone. Whether you live in town, in a village or on a rural road, your concerns deserve attention.
Residents deserve to know their tax dollars are being spent responsibly. I will ask practical questions about spending, focus on essential services and infrastructure, and look for ways to improve how the municipality operates. We need to consider both what residents can afford today and the costs our decisions leave for the future.
It means explaining decisions clearly, making information easier to find and listening to residents before important decisions are made. You may not agree with every decision, but you should understand how it was reached and know that your concerns were considered. I believe respectful discussion and clear communication should be the standard.
I support thoughtful growth that respects our communities and natural surroundings. New development should be considered alongside the roads, infrastructure and services needed to support it. We should welcome opportunities while protecting the character and quality of life that make Meaford a place people are proud to call home.
